For
parents who feel guilty about throwing
away their children’s old books,
there is a solution that not only empties
the bookcase but benefits public schools.
It’s the Summer Book Drive on July
28 between noon and 6 p.m. Just bring
either one new children’s book or
three that are gently used to an entry
gate and you will get free admission and
a free Carnival ride. The donated books
will benefit Orange County public schools,
and each book will be matched by Scholastic,
Inc.
The book drive is presented by the Orange
County Fair and the Reading by 9 program
of the Los Angeles Times. The book drive
also is supported by KDIS, Radio Disney.
Also, visit any Orange County Barnes
& Noble location during the month
of July and receive one Fair admission
with a children’s book donation
to the CHOC Summer Book Drive. See stores
for details. Fair admission is available
while supplies last.
