Jammin' at the Pacific Amphitheatre
2004 Summer Concert Series

The unique pairing of The Beatles tribute group The Fab Four and Orange County’s Pacific Symphony will be the first of the 21 concerts in the Pacific Amphitheatre Summer Concert Series on Friday, July 9 at 8 p.m. and is the first of four specially priced Friday night TGIF performances. All seats for the four TGIF shows are $19 and include free Fair admission.

A two-time Grammy Award winner, Reba McEntire released her first album in four years, 2003’s Room to Breathe, a triumphant return to the spotlight for one of the most popular country music performers of all time. McEntire will be performing Sunday, July 11 at 8 p.m.

Los Angeles-based Hoobastank, performing Tuesday, July 13, achieved national recognition with their eponymous 2001 major label debut that spawned the hit singles “Crawling in the Dark” and “Running Away.” Their latest single is “The Reason,” the title track from their critically acclaimed 2003 release. Opening for Hoobastank at 8 p.m. will be Orange County’s Lit.

Bill Medley met his vocal match in Bobby Hatfield, who eventually became his singing partner when they formed The Righteous Brothers. After a lengthy and successful career, in November of 2003 Hatfield passed away. Medley has assembled “The Righteous Brothers: A Celebration By Bill Medley” to honor the music’s unforgettable legacy on Wednesday, July 14. The show will begin at 8 p.m.

In 1998, San Francisco’s Train broke onto the scene with their hit single “Meet Virginia” from their debut album Train. Their latest release, the platinum My Private Nation, features the hit singles “Calling All Angels” and “When I Look to the Sky.” Train will be performing Thursday, July 15 at 8 p.m.

Grammy award winners Ozomatli bring their politically charged blend of Latin salsa, hip-hop, and jazz-funk to the Amphitheatre on Friday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. for the second TGIF show. Their latest release is the six-song e.p. Coming Up. Dance Hall Crashers will open the show.

Hootie & the Blowfish broke onto the American music scene in 1994 with their debut album Cracked Rear View. The album landed at Number One on the Billboard chart, sold 12 million copies, and cemented the band’s place as one of the most successful groups of the last decade. The band will be performing Sunday, July 18 at 8 p.m.

A living legend of contemporary music, Patti LaBelle brings her distinctive sounds to Pacific Amphitheatre on Tuesday, July 20. The opening act at 7:30 p.m. will be The Spinners, known as the greatest soul group of the early ’70s.

Christian rockers the Newsboys will perform with Audio Adrenaline on Wednesday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. One of today’s most popular Christian bands, Newsboys have been nominated for four Dove awards for their 2003 release, Adoration: the Worship Album. Audio Adrenaline fuse a Grammy nominated blend of rock, rap and funk. Their latest release is 2003’s Worldwide.

With his insights into human nature—both adult and child—comedian Bill Cosby has won American hearts by pointing out the humor of everyday events. Cosby brings his brand of wry humor and social insight to the Pacific Amphitheatre on Thursday, July 22 at 8 p.m.

The third TGIF show will feature the Go-Go’s and The Motels on Friday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. The most popular all-girl group of the eighties, the Go-Go’s, released three Top 40 albums before splitting to pursue solo projects. Now, reunited since 1994, the group continues to sell out amphitheaters and thrill audiences. The Motels, fronted by charismatic vocalist Martha Davis, are best known for the hit singles “Only the Lonely” and “Suddenly Last Summer.”

La Fiesta Mundial del Mariachi comes to the Pacific Amphitheatre on Saturday, July 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m. featuring Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan led by Jose Martinez, and Mariachi Tlaquepaque.

Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne was still a teenager when he played with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. More than three decades later, Browne’s music has been the soundtrack for a generation. This year, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Grammy-award winner Shawn Colvin is best known for her number one single “Sunny Came Home.” Browne and Colvin will be performing on Tuesday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m.

John Fogerty made his mark as the leader of the legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival before disbanding the group in 1972. Fogerty has since forged a successful solo career, releasing five critically acclaimed albums including Centerfield which reached number one on the Billboard chart. He became a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 as a member of CCR. Fogerty will be performing Wednesday, July 28 at 8 p.m.

Grammy-award winner Don Henley will be performing Thursday, July 29 at 8 p.m. A founding member of the Eagles and a successful solo artist, Henley is one of rock’s most celebrated stars.

The fourth TGIF show features Sugar Ray and Royal Crown Revue, performing at 8 p.m. on July 30. Orange County natives, Sugar Ray burst upon the national scene in 1997 with “Fly,” the hit single from their sophomore release Floored. Since then they have released three more Top 40 albums and a string of catchy singles. Royal Crown Revue, over its 15-year career, has pioneered the new-swing movement.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Jessica Simpson has released three Top 40 albums including 2003’s smash, In This Skin, which includes her latest single, “Take My Breath Away.” America’s favorite newlywed, Simpson performs Saturday, July 31 at 8 p.m.

Formed in Texas in 1969, the three members of ZZ Top have created an immense catalog of classics, including “La Grange,” “Tush” and “Legs,” that are as instantly recognizable as their beards, boiler suits and cheap sunglasses. ZZ Top brings three decades of Texas blues to the Pacific Amphitheatre in support of their latest release Mescalero on the closing night of Fair, Sunday, Aug. 1 at 8 p.m.

Artists for the Saturday, July 10, Saturday, July 17, and Sunday, July 25 concerts will be announced soon. In addition to the concerts during the Fair, Pacific Amphitheatre also will host Counting Crows on Thursday, July 1; and Boston on Saturday, Aug. 7.
